Above it all at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt
A mocktail with a view.
Sometimes you gotta get above midtown to enjoy it. I got a kick out of SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, the observation "experience" right next to Grand Central -- half exhibit, half party. We went for my mom's birthday since the price was special-occasion ($71, including cocktail). Lots of whimsy: a balloon room, a glass ledge, an atrium with mirrored walls and floors. It ends in a fine bar with a deck, where we lingered for sunset. I found joy in the weird booties they make everyone wear. And I appreciated that my younger son, who hates heights, could sit with his "fancy" drink and enjoy things his own way. A good splurge.
The view in just one of many directions.
In the mirrored atrium in matching booties.
